First Batches of Volkswagen SKD Vehicles Arrives

Earlier in February the first batches of Volkswagen SKD cars loaded on Kar-Tainer equipment arrived Nairobi, Kenya and Kigali, Rwanda from Uitenhage, South Africa. The arrival marked thCe first occasion of production series cars being shipped into the African Continent on returnable cassette systems provided by Kar-Tainer.

The first models to arrive were the Tiguan, Polo and Polo Vivo. Kar-Tainer personnel have worked close with involved LSP's and the plants in Kenya and Rwanda to develop specific procedures for handling both receival and return of equipment in an efficient manner.

Preparations are well on the way for implementing the same solution for other Sub-Saharan VW Group assembly plants.
